Outside Acura TL is a bit contradictory. On the one hand the contours of the body resemble the belonging to the business class: the car is presentable, noble and has a real male character. But front, unfortunately, is performed in a single stylistic range with other models of the Acura line. Represented front looks great on crossovers, but it obviously does not fit business-class sedan, giving it excessive sportiness and “youth”. As for the size, it fits well into the standard norms for the business class: length - 4928 mm, width - 1880 mm, height - 1452 mm, wheelbase - 2775 mm and ground clearance - 145 mm. The car's weight ranges from 1690 to 1815 kg, depending on the configuration.
The interior also has similarities with the overall design concept of the Acura, but through the use of more expensive materials, and other decorative elements, the interior looks more solid. The cabin is designed for 4 people, who will enjoy comfortable seats with lateral support, but third person on the back bench can also fit if you want. There is sufficient space for legs. The layout of the front panel is ergonomic and modern, and the center console and steering wheel has enough controls.
On the technical characteristics Acura TL sedan is offered in two versions, differing with mounted engine, gearbox type and presence / absence of all-wheel drive system. Younger engine for the Acura TL is a V-shaped “six” with a displacement of 3.5 liters and a maximum output of 280 hp at 6200 rev / min. The engine is made entirely of aluminum and equipped with a timing belt drive with a 24-valve SOHC system and fuel injection system of the VTEC, which is based on Drive-By-Wire technology. The engine torque at its peak is 345 Nm at 5000 rev / min. Average fuel consumption of the power unit used in city driving is about 11.4 liters. This type of engine is installed on the front-wheel modification of the Acura TL and completed only with 6-speed automatic transmission SportShift, which is used in other models of the updated Acura lineup.
The second engine for the Acura TL sedan is six-cylinder power unit, but with a displacement of 3.7 liters. The power of this engine is increased to 305 hp at 6300 rev / min. From technical point of view, motor equipment has remained the same: the timing belt drive, 24-valve SOHC system and distributed injection VTEC. Peak torque at 5000 rev / min reaches 370 Nm, which provides “hustler” dynamics of supplemental motion. The flagship engine Acura TL comes with 6-step “automatic” SportShift, or 6-speed “mechanics”, running in tandem with a system of active SH-AWD all-wheel drive.
The suspension of business sedan Acura TL is fully independent. The front is made based on double wishbones, coil springs and stabilizer bar. The rare is standard multilink system with coil springs and transverse stabilizer. The steering is complemented by electric power steering with the function of changing the gear ratio according to vehicle speed. The disc brakes are on all wheels: Front ventilated 12.6-inch, while the rear unventilated 13.2 inches. Brakes are complemented by anti-lock braking system ABS, electronic brake force distribution system EBD and emergency Brake Assist. Like any other business-class sedan, Acura TL offers a high level of safety of the driver and passengers. The car is equipped with front, rear and side airbags, active head restraints, ISOFIX child seats, three-point seat belts and folding rear head restraints to protect the cervical vertebrae.
There are three variants of the vehicle equipment for the North American market: “Standart”, “Technology Package” and “Advance Package”. Standard equipment includes leather upholstery, steering wheel Woodgrain, front and lateral aerodynamic spoiler, alloy wheels 18 or 19 inches, parking sensors, engine heater, working from home network, remote engine start system, climate control, air tire pressure sensor, audio system with USB support and Bluetooth HandsFree. In the US the cost of basic Acura TL starts at 36,000 dollars.
