Honda Accord has been known since 1976, and now its ninth generation is in production. It was presented in 2012, and for the first time in many years, it has become a unified model for Europe and America. Now it's time for the car update, which we are going to talk through in Honda Accord Review.
Exterior and Interior
External changes are too radical, but immediately noticeable. Accord got a new grille decorated with a chrome strip, refreshed lights covered with silvery “eyebrows”, and in the more expensive versions the optics became fully LED. Also, the sedan has updated hood, which is now made of aluminum alloy. In addition, for the first time 19-inch alloy wheels are available for a fee. They are provided in the version of Sport, together with aerodynamic body kit and rear spoiler.
Inside, the main improvements have affected the central panel - now there are two new displays. The upper 7.7-inch screen is reserved for the thermometer and rearview camera, and the lower 7-inch monitor shows the data of the new multimedia system. The backrests of the second row seats are now folded separately.
Honda Accord is available in trim levels Elegance, Sport, Executive and Premium. Already in the basic kit Elegance the sedan has a dual-zone climate control, keyless access system, start the engine with the button, heated front seats, headlight range adjustment, 8-inch color display and audio ODMD touchscreen controls, CD / MP3-audio system with 6 speakers and control buttons on the steering wheel, the USB-connector, cruise control, rain sensor and light, pulsed electric windows on all doors, electric (including folding) and heated mirrors, fog lights.
The modification Sport features LED headlights with daytime running lights, audio system with 7 speakers and a subwoofer, spoiler, interior decorative elements, red illumination of devices, auto blacked rearview mirror, transmission shift petals, 18-inch aluminum wheels and a specially tuned sports suspension.
In the version Executive the car gets additional leather interior, sunroof, power front seats, heated rear seats, parking sensors, a rearview camera, and navigation system.
The top version Premium is additionally equipped with a memory function of the driver seat, rear window sunshade, increased battery capacity and the adaptive cruise control (ACC).
The first three configuration options offer 2.4-liter i-VTEC (180 hp) with 5-step “automatic”. Sport modification allows ordering 6-speed manual transmission - however, this is the only option with the “mechanics”. The most powerful in the line of the new Accord is a version with a 3.5-liter V6 i-VTEC (280 hp) - it can only be purchased in a complete set Premium with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Both power units of a new series of Earth Dream Technologies are able to run on 92 octane fuel. V6 engine also has a system of cylinder deactivation at low loads. This contributes to high fuel economy.
Honda Accord suspension has a high output ratio, different settings and characteristics, optimal for vehicle adaptation to different conditions. Of course, there are electronic security systems: ABS (anti-lock), EBD (brake force distribution), BAS (Brake Assist System), VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) and HSA (hillstart assist system), which are included in the basic package. The most expensive modification Premium is equipped with a complete set of options warning about the danger of a collision (CMBS), which is based on radar.
As for the other systems, the base modifications include 8 airbags and active head restraints. And starting from Executive version the car is equipped with innovative control system of “dead zones” (Lane Watch), which is a camera built into the right rear-view mirror. When this option is activated the primary monitor on a dashboard displays a widescreen picture that allows the driver to monitor the presence of not only cars, but also, for example, cyclists and motorcyclists in the movement area. Honda Accord demonstrates a very serious set of equipment, in many ways superior to similar offers of many competitors.
