The eye-catching design created by European stylists, the updated technical stuffing and the purpose to get closer to the leaders of the C-Class - that's what the i30 hatchback and wagon of the second generation. Hyundai i30 has appeared in 2007 and replaced the five-door Elantra modification. The second generation of the model was introduced four years later. Now the time has come for its planned renovation, which is going to be shortly described in Hyundai i30 Review.
Of course, the design of Hyundai i30 is not out of date yet, so the exterior changes are minimal. The fresh trapezoidal grille is noticeable first of all: it is much larger than before. Narrow LED fluorescent lights appeared in a bumper. The same type of optics is now in the lamps of hatchback. In addition, from now on the modification i30 Turbo is proposed with aerodynamic bodywork, extended roof spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels instead of the standard 16-inch.
Inside, the changes are less noticeable. First of all, the car received a new instrument dials. Gauge pointer of fuel in the tank is installed inside the speedometer, and in the tachometer - engine temperature sensor. The version i30 Turbo is offered with new sports seats with improved lateral support. Also in this case, the steering wheel is sheathed with perforated leather, and metal plates are provided on the pedals.
The engine range is revised. The initial version has a new 1.4-liter gasoline engine with 100 hp. The “four” of 1.6 liters in atmospheric version develops 120 hp, and its new version with turbo produces 186 hp and is only installed on i30 Turbo. This hatchback accelerates to 100 km / h in 8 seconds and reaches 219 km / h. Turbodiesel 1.6-liter is now offered in versions with 110 and 136 hp. 7-speed dual clutch transmission came to replace 6-step “automatic”.
The feeling from the drive in i30 is largely dependent on the mode of the electric power steering equipped with Flex Steer system, which changes its rigidity. In any case, Hyundai i30 is controlled naturally, easily and comfortably. Compared to its predecessor, the hatchback has received a wider track, but its soft and not aggressive character retained.
Due to comfort and convenience, design and finishing materials Hyundai i30 is quite ready to compete with the European luminaries in the class. For the Korean car the cost in the most expensive versions may seem considerable. But, firstly, Hyundai i30 is Korean only in the passport, as it was originally designed for the European market in Germany, and is produced in the Czech Republic. Secondly, the expensive versions of i30 include an extensive list of options, which are offered for additional price in German cars. And thirdly, the car is equipped with a more powerful engine, than many opponents, and the modern 6-speed automatic transmission.
