Hyundai Sonata of the latest generation is produced since the end of 2009 and sold all over the world. But this car has never made to reach Western Europe, and now the reason for this became clear. For Old World the company created a special model based on the Sonata - Hyundai i40. At first it was a station wagon, and then a sedan joined it. More of its specifications will be described in Hyundai i40 Review.
Exterior and Interior
When you look at Hyundai i40 you can’t immediately distinguish it from Sonata. It has similar smooth body lines, elegant flowing silhouette of the roof, and huge slanting headlights. But on closer inspection you can see that the radiator grille and air intake in the front bumper are made in the style of the new Accent and Elantra, and the large LED taillights look more expressive. Perhaps the main difference of the i40 is its somewhat smaller size. Compared with the donor platform, Sonata, the length of a new model is cut by 80 mm (up to 4740 mm), and the wheelbase by 25 mm (up to 2770 mm). The car also became somewhat narrower (1815 mm), but the height remained the same - 1470 mm. Although a novice is more compact, inside this is almost not felt, because the interior is just as spacious as that of Sonata. The volume of the trunk of the sedan is 503 liters, while the station wagon - 553 l.
The car is offered with an extensive list of equipment, in particular: heated steering wheel rim, the front and rear seats. The seats of the first row can also be vented. You can also order a navigation system, rearview camera, the connection Bluetooth, and a system of warning about crossing lines of road markings. Hyundai i40 has nine airbags: front, side, inflatable "curtains" front and rear, airbag in the steering column.
All motors of sedan and wagon are equipped with direct fuel injection. In particular, there is a choice of petrol engines: 1.6 liters (135 hp) and 2.0 liters (177 hp). There are also two turbodiesels: 1.7-liter 115-horsepower and 2.0-liter and 136-hp. The first of them consumes 4.3 l / 100 km in the combined cycle. This result was achieved thanks to ISG technology silencing the engine at stops. The car can be equipped with 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
i40 is offered in 3 options configuration: Active, Style and Premium. As it was mentioned there are four engine options, all units are equipped with start / stop systems. The basic equipment Active includes 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth, heated mirrors, leather trimmed steering wheel, power windows and electric parking brake. The version Style has additional parking sensors, a rearview camera, cruise control and dual-zone climate control. The top version of the car includes leather trim, a panoramic roof and many other minor features.
Sedan Hyundai i40 stands out from the competition with not only its original appearance, but also by providing the driver and passengers with a high level of comfort.
