Mazda CX-9

At the auto show in Los Angeles, the company Mazda presented a new generation of CX-9 crossover utility vehicle. In the autumn of 2015 at the Motor Show in Frankfurt, Mazda showed a spectacular concept Koeru. The car caused a great interest among the visitors, and a few months after the presentation of the car the company has brought to Los Angeles a ready for serial production stylish and respectable 7-passenger crossover CX-9 of a new generation. Exterior and Design

Corporate KODO design is implemented in elegant proportions of a model, the key elements of which are shifted front pillars by 100 mm on the back, long hood, smooth flowing lines, large wheels and short overhangs. The car became 30 mm shorter (5065 mm) of its predecessor, but a wheelbase increased by 55 mm, allowing to add space to the already spacious interior, as well as to add comfort to the passengers.

The buyer can choose among the wide range of wheels: diameters ranging from 18 to 20 inches. Special pride of the designers is standard LED headlights, as well as new original gray shade color, called Machine Gray. In addition the CX-9 is available in other interesting colors Soul Red, Snowflake White Pearl, Sonic Silver, Jet Black, Deep Crystal Blue and Titanium Flash.

Technical Equipment

The car is built using proprietary complex of technological innovation SKYACTIV. In particular, the model debuted with a brand new 2.5-liter turbocharged engine SKYACTIV-G 2.5T. It received a direct fuel injection and a turbocharger with a working pressure of 1.2 bar. The engine has an output of 250 hp and the maximum torque reaches 420 Nm. Moreover, the construction works with new technologies, Dynamic Pressure Turbo system implements a new principle of turbine operation with a variable geometry. However, in this case, the turbine does not change its parameters, but the exhaust gas flow changes the direction, depending on the engine speed.

The second technology is the recirculation of cooled exhaust EGR system. It reduces the temperature of the engine from 500 to 100 degrees, reduces fuel consumption and raises the compression ratio to 10.5: 1. Its 6-speed automatic transmission SKYACTIV-DRIVE helps to realize the enormous potential of the new engine.


In this model, compared with the predecessor, the engineers used a higher percentage of high-strength steels, which reduced the weight of the car by 130 kg in the all-wheel drive version i-ACTIV AWD and 90 kg for the front-wheel drive.

Much attention was paid to improve the level of safety. In particular, the car received a new panel with well readable scales of devices, a proprietary system i-ACTIVSENSE, including active cruise control, the blind zones control and lane keeping assist, adaptive LED-lights with automatic light switch, emergency brake in traffic jams, powerful brakes with ventilated discs, and more.


In the journey the driver and his passengers can entertain themselves with a branded multimedia system MZD Connect with 7/8-inch touch screen and navigation. In addition, all the information necessary for the driver is displayed on a color 4.6-inch TFT-screen on the instrument scale. Audio system Bose with 12 speakers is optional.
