Citroën will produce a compact sedan able to compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLA and the four-door Audi A3. As De Telegraaf reports, the new auto, which is expected to be launched in 2018, will come under the DS premium brand. Experts assume that the new model is planned to substitute the DS4 hatchback.
Why a four-door sedan? First of all, Citroën intends to compete with models of the same class produced by premium German automakers in Europe. Second of all, the new car has a chance to be in great demand in China market as cars with such a body type are very popular there.
It should be noted that according to a development program of the DS brand, its line-up is to consist of six models by 2020. The flagship sedan will be a top car of the series and is going to replace the discontinued Citroën C6. According to preliminary data, it’ll be called the DS8 and will share some design elements with the Citroën Divine DS concept car, which was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2014.
