Soon, buyers of the Nissan Leaf will be able to choose a model with battery capacity most appropriate for their life style. The automaker intends to build a Leaf that can go up to 250 miles on a full charge due to a more powerful 30 kW battery.
Nissan constantly works on improvement of batteries for electric vehicles. Having created the one able to cover 80-100 miles per full charge, the automaker strives for an even more powerful unit that will offer a range of nearly 160 miles per full charge.
However, it’s only part of the story. In 2017, a brand-new Leaf version is to be unveiled. It’s expected clients will be able to select a battery their new car will be powered by, thus a range, performance, and a price as well. Note that all of them will be beyond 30 kW. The longest-range auto among offered is going to cover 250 miles with no need to be recharged on the way.
Carlos Ghost, Nissan and Renault CEO, promised to provide more details on new Leafs later this year.
